最近一直接到電話、電郵或短訊詢問草根是否有辦榴蓮大吃會,很欣慰草根至少還有點市場,但無奈的是今年草根榴蓮歉收,開花的榴蓮樹只佔5%,結果的榴蓮樹大約只有1%,這數目真是慘不忍睹。那1%結成果的榴蓮還得捐一些給猴子和松鼠,還有一些被大風雨跨到,剩下的榴蓮都不夠自己吃。除此之外,紅毛丹、山竹、尖霹靂和冷剎都沒見到花的踪影。因此,草根遺憾地宣布今年沒有辦榴蓮大吃會,非常抱歉讓大家失望了。

今年榴蓮歉收,有好幾個說法,但都離不開氣候的變遷,有人說北風吹得不夠勁,風不干土壤內的水;有人說開花季節時雨水過多。熱帶水果多數是受熱後開花結果的,果王也有承傳著這樣的習性,而且它是需要非常熱及乾燥的情況下,才能促進它的開花。植物也有傳宗接代的基因遺傳,一旦他們覺得生命受威脅,就會開花結果來承傳下一代,非常熱及缺水的狀況應該足以讓榴蓮覺得生命受威脅,可能今年這兩個條件都沒有,所以開花率低。

今年的榴蓮季節,班台亞齊Pantai Acheh、雙溪檳榔Sg.Pinang、Pondok Upeh屬於歉收區;美湖Gertak Sanggul、公巴Teluk Kumbar、黑橋頂Titi Serong則有比較多的榴蓮;無論如何都不夠供應市場,所以榴蓮饕吃者必定得在今年吃上貴榴蓮。

小小提醒,購買榴蓮時,請精明的選購,在供不應求的市場下,難免會有渾水摸魚之徒,以外玻榴蓮充當浮羅榴蓮來賣,乘勢賺上一筆。消費者如果有跟果農建立關係,就可以直接跟農夫購買,雙方都得益之下,消費人又可以安心地品嚐道地的榴蓮。

Recently i receive some calls, sms, email that require for the durian buffet, but sadly to say that this year we cant afford to organise durian buffet as the production is very low. It is very pity to say that just 1% out of 200 durian trees that bare fruits, even Rambutan, Mangosten, Cempedak and Langsat aslo i cant find any of them flowering and fruiting.

This weird season some said is cause by the too much rain pour, while the others said is because the wind blow when flowering period is not enough to dry up the water underneath the soil, but even experienced farmers cant explain exactly the cause . Whatever the said it is, the reason cannot run out of the change of the weather.

This season is not a very happy season for a lots of durian farmers. Pantai Acheh, Sg. Pianag, Pondok Upeh is the area that can consider of extremely low production, while Gertak Sanggul, Teluk Kumbar and Titi Serong is the area that have much more better production.  However, the total production i think still cannot cope with the demand from the market, so consumer might have to buy expensive Durian this year. Also, please beware of the fake Balik Pulau durian and wish you Happy Tropical Fruits Season.

鄰居給了我自栽的無農藥包菜和銀芋,拔了一片包菜葉放進嘴裡,口中傳來的滋味立刻令人知道這就是包菜的味道。那滋味清甜,厚實香脆,而且帶著濃郁的包菜獨有味。厚脆的葉片吃下去很實在,密布的味蕾立刻感應到這濃郁的味道就是包菜的味道,人對真食物的味蕾感觸是與生俱來的,不需要人教。

吃過高原一個有機園的有機包菜,甜味一流,多汁且脆,但缺了包菜的味道和厚實感;市場上的有些包菜更糟,無甜味、無口感,只有在肚子很餓時吃它才會很實在地覺得它的存在。

銀芋,味甜,枝莖清脆。相信很少人吃過及聽過銀芋,銀芋的葉子很類似薯類(芋頭)芋葉和街邊潮濕地帶的野生芋類葉,在行人才能看得出分別。所以,不要隨意亂摘街邊的野芋葉來吃,因為野芋體內含絞汁,有些甚至帶毒性,吃後會令人舌頭發癢。這道蔬菜我暫時只在亞羅士打一家餐館kan

芋葉大過臉可當遮陽傘的芋葉,味甜而質脆

每種蔬菜都有自己獨特的味道,多數人都能吃得出大蒜、洋蔥、姜等味道較重及辛辣的食物,但味道較清淡的食物的味道則需要較細膩的味蕾去感受。不過,現代化大量化學物的栽種方式使種出來的蔬果失去本身的味道、忙綠緊迫的生活節奏,令人失去與生俱來對食物的品嚐天份。

有關食物的食評電影或真實的食評,足以讓人感動的食物首要條件是材料本身的真味道,再來是廚師的煮工及廚師對煮食的用心。

 

In the farm, we have volunteers that help us open Durian, volunteers that help us to do farm chores, farmer that working, visitor that come to taste Durian, children that having their hands-on farming experience etc. Farm is not just a space for plant, animal, but also for the human as all of us part of nature.

Our WWOOFER, addicted to durian since the 1st time she have durian in my farm, she will ask for the durian every morning. she learn quite well in opening the durian as well这位义工打从第一次在我园内吃榴莲后就上瘾了,每天一早都要找榴莲吃。她很快就学会了开榴莲。

Durian is one of the symbolic of Balik Pulau which make Balik Pulau famous especially form May to July when a lots of peoples came in to have the unforgotten taste of Durian.

In Grassroot Organic, we are using organic way in the fruits orchard without using pesticide, hebicide, synthetic fertilizer etc thing that will harm to human body and environment.
